One key factor to increasing a business’ value is growth. Show you can grow and keep growing. Don’t coast, because you can only coast downhill.
It’s spring and things are blooming and growing. I look at our garden(s) and realize what we do in a garden is like what we (should) do in business. Among other things, we:
- Have raised planter boxes to protect what the rabbits like to eat.
- Feed and nurture the plants by watering, trimming, fertilizing, spreading slug deterrent, etc.
- Get to eat the veggies (we are our own customer) by installing fences around the plants the rabbits don’t like because our puppy likes to lay in the gardens.
Compare a business to the above.
- We protect our product or service with processes, quality control, IP protection, etc.
- We feed our business by monitoring metrics like KPIs, margins, sales forecasts, etc.
- We make sure our product gets to our customers by having good salespeople who protect our brand in the marketplace.
If done right, both gardens and businesses have high yields.
