In Antigua working in the schools and what we notice simple things, both good and not so good (and sometimes we laugh a bit). However, simple things can derail us or businesses and life all the time. Here are a few examples:
- A school principal complained her Wi-fi didn’t work. The reason why was the cable going into her wireless access point wasn’t going to the router but back into the access point.
- Another principal moved her office furniture around, unplugged her router, didn’t plug it back in, and wondered why no Internet.
- On the flip side, as the picture shows, a restaurant created what’s really a giant pocket protector for silverware. Interesting concept.
The fun things above aside, we find the people generally want to learn and do better. Sometimes they just aren’t trained well. An example is our hotel, it’s obvious the restaurant staff don’t get trained. Most don’t understand the basics and they fumble around with their iPad like ordering devices.
Like any business, the cost of a little training goes a long way and is cheaper in the long run.
